Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you want to know about Congruently.
What is Congruently?
Congruently is a browser extension that gives you real-time coaching during video meetings. It reads your meeting's captions, detects patterns in how you communicate (hedging, rambling, going quiet), and gives you specific suggestions for what to say — in your own voice, not a script.
How does it work?
When you join a video meeting (Google Meet, Zoom, or Teams), Congruently reads the live captions your browser already generates. It sends recent caption context to Claude (Anthropic's AI) which analyzes the conversation dynamics and generates coaching in real time. Coaching appears in a side panel only you can see.
Can other people in my meeting see the coaching?
No. Congruently runs entirely in your browser as an extension panel. No one else in the meeting can see your coaching, your chat input, or anything else. It's like having notes on a second screen.
Does it record my meetings?
No audio recording. No video recording. No transcript storage. Congruently reads captions from the DOM (the same captions already visible on your screen). After the meeting, caption data is cleared from memory. We have zero access to your meeting content.
What are Minds?
Minds are coaching personalities tailored to specific communication challenges. Confident Mind catches hedging and helps you own your expertise. Creative Mind helps translate craft language into business impact. Diplomatic Mind coaches you through politics and hard conversations. There are 8 minds — pick the one that matches your challenge.
What's a debrief?
After each meeting, Congruently generates a summary of the coaching moments — what it caught, what you did well, and what to work on. It's a post-meeting review that helps you improve over time. Debriefs are generated in your browser and stored locally.
Is it really free?
Yes, during beta. The product is free to install and use. You'll need to bring your own Anthropic API key (BYOK) for the AI coaching. A key costs about $0.10-0.20 per meeting on Sonnet. We're exploring subscription tiers for post-beta that would include the API cost.
What's BYOK?
Bring Your Own Key. You create a free account at console.anthropic.com, add some credit ($5 minimum), and paste your API key into Congruently's settings. Your key talks directly to Anthropic — we never see it or proxy it.
How much does it cost per meeting?
With BYOK on Claude Sonnet: roughly $0.10-0.20 per hour depending on how much conversation happens. A typical 30-minute 1:1 costs about $0.07. A busy 1-hour group meeting might cost $0.20. Opus (deeper reasoning) costs about 2x more.
Which meeting platforms are supported?
Google Meet, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams are all supported. The extension works by reading live captions from the meeting platform.
Which browsers are supported?
Chrome is available now. Firefox is coming soon. Both are Manifest V3 extensions.
Does it work on mobile?
Not yet. Browser extensions don't run on mobile browsers. We're exploring a native iOS/iPad app that would use on-device transcription as a second-screen coaching experience.
What data does Anthropic see?
Recent caption text, your coaching mind selection, and any context you type. Anthropic does not train on API inputs. They don't see your name, email, meeting title, or participant information beyond what appears in captions. See Anthropic's privacy policy.
Can I use this for interviews?
We're building a Turbo mode specifically for interviews (faster response times, interview-specific coaching). For now, the Confident and Navigator minds work well for interview scenarios.
Who made this?
One person. An ND creative director who got tired of fumbling meetings. Built it for himself, realized it might help other people too. You can read the full story on the home page.
How do I give feedback?
Join the Discord. That's where beta testers share what's working, what's broken, and what they want next. Every piece of feedback shapes the product.
